A fisherman's idea of heaven, whether it be beach fishing, estuary, reef or open ocean that makes you tick, all of these can be found close by or accessed from the Dungenness Warf.

Experienced local guides are available to share their knowledge and tours, boat hire or fishing charters can be arranged for you by our friendly reception staff at the hotel. Alternatively You can fish off the Old Lucinda Sugar Jetty reputedly the longest wharf of its type in Australia. Its only a 5 minute walk from the Hotel.

Remember... When you do catch the big one Our chef will be more than happy to cook it for you for a small fee.Salad and/or vegies are included.

Hinchinbrook Island is covered in tropical rain forest and is fringed by an extensive mangrove system. You can arrange tours to the Great Barrier Reef, transfers to Hinchinbrook Island and tinnie hire from the Lucinda Hotel. (We are always happy to assist our visitors find a great Fishing Adventure while staying with us!)

Barramundi One of Australia’s best known tropical fish species... Barramundi is a great sport fish and is a truly delightful fish to eat. Barramundi can be caught with a lure fly or bait and can be found in fresh and tidal waters. The Barramundi Fishing season closes between October and February to protect spawning.

Coral Trout Can be found in tropical waters in reef and rock areas. Trout can be caught when bait fishing off reefs and bommies. They will also take lures cast over shallow reefs. They are a hardy fish and put up a fantastic fight. The coral trout is considered to be one of Australia's best table fish, Their fine white flesh will melt in your mouth..

Spanish Mackerel Can be found on the deep water reefs and around inshore islands most of the year. They can be caught with a jig, lure or on live bait, they are a fantastic sport fish for anglers and make great eating.

Mud Crabs Inhabit the mangrove areas along the Queensland coast... Mud Crabs can be caught in baited traps ('crab pots') or in hoop nets known as 'dillies'. A good 'Muddie' (as they are locally known) can measure up to 20cm across the shell and be up to 2kg in weight.
