The Port of Lucinda is located on the North Queensland coast between Ingham and Cardwell 100kms north of Townsville and is the southern gateway to the World Heritage listed Hinchinbrook Island National Park. The Island is a haven for bush walkers and nature lovers (see the Thorsborne Trail ) and consists of a variety of ecosystems ranging from mangroves and lush rainforest to tropical savannah.

The Dalrymple Gap Track is some 8 kilometres end to end and takes about 4 hours to walk one way. The Cardwell side of the track is quite steep passing through mainly open woodland with rainforest fringing the creeks. At the top of the ridge there is a beautiful stone bridge.  After crossing the bridge you decend steeply though some magnificent well protected rain forrest that crisscrosses Dalrymple creek, then back out into more open woodland at the Broadwater state forrest end of the track.

Located within the Girringun (once Lumholtz) National Park, Wallaman falls , 50km west of Ingham is Australia’s largest permanent single drop water fall, 268m clear drop after a 70m fall from the top of the range. There are extensive walking tracks throughout the park featuring a two kilometer track that will take you through lush rainforest to the base of the falls. The park provides a well maintained camping and picnic area.

Jourama Falls is just 50kms from Lucinda and 24 kms from Ingham. Jourama consists of dry vine thickets and open rainforest surrounding the creek itself. The park is home to a wide range of native fauna including the endangered mahogany glider, goannas, tortoises and a myriadn of bird species. There are also many spectacular falls and swimming holes. The walking tracks are well maintained and feature scenic lookouts. Picnic and camping facilities are also available in the park.

Paluma Range National Park is part of the Wet Tropics and is World Heritage listed. It consists of lush rain forests and open eucalypt woodland, and is located an hour south of Ingham. Paluma features many kms of walking tracks with some spectacular panoramic lookouts, as well as a number of swimming spots including Crystal creek, a popular attraction for locals. Take a drive up the range through cool tropical rainforest to the top of Mount Spec where you will find Paluma Village with its tea rooms and craft cottages as well as the Paluma Environmental Education Centre.
